Failure Analysis and Analytical Tools in Fire Investigation with Dr. Elizabeth Buc
One of the sixteen NFPA 1033 requirements for professional fire investigators is proficiency in Failure Analysis and Analytical Tools, which in NFPA 921 Chapter 22 includes fire testing. Fire and Materials Research Laboratory, LLC in Livonia, Michigan is a forensic laboratory specializing in failure analysis, materials characterization, laboratory examinations of artifacts from fire scenes and fire testing. This seminar will include a tour of the laboratory and facilities with live demonstrations of standard and ad hoc fire tests. A short presentation will highlight principles of failure analysis and fire testing in scientific fire investigation.
